Dr. Matteo Malgaroli is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University. Dr. Malgaroli works in digital mental health, at the intersection of psychiatry, AI, and technology. He also teaches computational methods to psychiatry residents, fellows, and psychology students. Dr. Malgaroli conducts federally funded research on using Natural Language Processing and Large Language Models to identify digital biomarkers, with the goal of passively monitoring psychopathology and providing intervention feedback. His studies have been reported in media outlets including NBC and Forbes magazine. He also studies digital health behavioral interventions as an ideal source of large-scale clinical data and to expand treatment access.
