Bio
Dr. Kristen DiCerbo is the Chief Learning Officer at Khan Academy where she sets the teaching and learning strategy for the company and ensures a consistent research-based pedgogical approach across their offerings. Dr. DiCerbo leads the content, product management, and customer support teams, most recently in the launch of Khanmigo, an AI-based tutor and teacher assistant. Throughout her career, she has focused on the design of interactive digital technologies for learning and assessment. She has also led teams focused on embedding learning science into curricula and learning tools. In addition, she has researched and published extensively on the use of data from learner activity in games and simulations to understand what learners know and can do.
Dr. DiCerbo has participated in simulation and game-based assessment projects, including work with GlassLab developing SimCityEDU and Mars Generation One. She participated in the White House Game Jam and served on the advisory board for the new PBS Kids Series Hero Elementary. Prior to joining Khan Academy, DiCerbo was Vice President of Learning Research and Design at Pearson. Her work included research support to the Networking Academies at Cisco Dr. DiCerbo also served as a school psychologist in a local school district in Arizona. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology from Hamilton College, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Arizona State University.
